TRAVEL - Malaysia

My first impression of Malaysia, was that it is very Americanized, there was Starbucks, Mcdonalds, and huge shopping centers. I thought that it would be a lot less developed. I was clearly mistaken. It reminds me alot of Florida with the humidity. Aside from the 24 hours it takes to get there, it almost felt like I was visiting another state. The hotel was very comfortable. The rooms were spacious and the hotel decore reminded me of being in the South. Also there was no front door on the hotel lobby.

The hotel was on a golf course which offer night golf under flood lights. The lights lit up the fairways and greens of the golf course like flood lights lit up the field for Monday night football. It was a very interesting. Also there was no air-conditioning in the hotel lobby, it used ceiling fans and swinging shades to cool down the lobby.

Malaysia is 80% Muslim, and this is also the National Religion. The first time I saw this was when I checked into my hotel room. There was a Quran in the dresser and an arrow for Mecca on the ceiling.

Also there is a National Masque.

I was there during Ramidan. I also thought the feasting was a painful time in the religion. Actually it's a very celebratory time period. They decorate the streets with lights.

The Chinese Malaysians are mostly Buddists. There are many buddist temples. This is an example of one I visited.

There is also some lingering artifacts from the Crusades.

The Towers in Kaula Lumpar are an amazing sight both during the day and at night.
